Can an ultrasound tech tell you if you are pregnant?

I went to the doctors today for my missed period. My urine pregnancy test came back negative so she did a pelvic exam, cultures and ordered a pelvic ultrasound of my uterus and ovaries since I have pcos. The ultrasound tech didn't let me see the screen and told me that the doctor would be calling before my follow up appointment on the 5th of November but she said she didn't see anything really concerning. She left the pictures on the screen and turned it towards me to look at when she walked out for me to get dressed. I couldn't tell what the pictures were of, but it looked like I had a cyst or two the size of a quarter if the picture was of my ovary. Would she have told me if it wasn't a cyst and I were pregnant? She did ask me when my last period was. What do y'all think?

I'm An ultrasound tech and we aren't allowed to tell patients any information. The doctor has to.

Many sonographers are not given the rights to tell the patient any information until approved by the prescribing Doctor.
The reason for this; they sonographers cannot properly diagnose you, and are medically trained to take "pictures" not a nurse, not a doctor. Also they can unknowingly violate hippa.

Techs are trained to do the procedure but not how to read them. Obviously the more you do the more you learn and lots of techs know how, but since they aren't officially trained to read them they shouldn't be giving out any information.

Hello, I'm going to school to become an ultrasound tech, and indeed we do know when a patient is pregnant or not. By law we are not allowed to say anything. That's where the doctor comes in. Good luck

Thank you all for the input. I thought they weren't allowed to tell you but wasn't sure. I've had techs talk to me about what they see before but never said this is what's wrong. I just didn't know if she was trying to get me to look at something or if I was reading into too much. She said she had been doing it for over 20 years and it was in a private office.

Typically a tech isn't really supposed to tell you much. They let the radiologist go over your images and the dr calls you with your results... sometimes they can and will,  just depends on their education level

Normally it is up to the Dr to discuss what is going on not the ultrasound tech since they r not Dr.s

I had an ultrasound appointment today cause I honestly feel like I am I a line on my stomach and all and according to my glow app I was suppose to get my period this week but I still don't have it 🤔 and she check my ovaries . She asked me when my last period was so idk if I'm pregnant or not
