Announcing at 12 or 14 weeks?

I've heard people say to wait until 12 weeks to publicly announce and also people who say start of 2nd trimester. I always thought those were the same thing but I just found out the second trimester doesn't begin until week 14! For those of you who are waiting to announce, what do you consider to be the "all clear" time to announce?

It’s never all clear. Unexpected things happen. I waited till I was 12 weeks.

I asked my doctor about this. My doctors said that once you see/hear the heartbeat your risk of miscarriage drops significantly. I always announce after the first ultrasound because I have seen the heartbeat and know the baby is healthy. My first ultrasounds have always been at 8 weeks. I know some people still prefer to wait though.

The unexpected can happen at anytime. Though people die tend to wait until the first trimester is over to announce. Once the percentage of miscarriage decreases. Announce whenever you feel is right. I posted mine when I got my first ultrasound. @ 7 weeks

I announced with my first child at 4 1/2 weeks. I was lucky my pregnancy went fine and nothing happened. Now with my second I’m older and had previously suffered multiple losses so now I’m waiting until 20 weeks even though I have seen a healthy baby and heartbeat at 9 weeks. I’m currently 11 weeks. I know there is no real good time to announce cause anything can happen at anytime

I'm currently waiting till 13weeks to "announce" it. Mostly because everyone has been scaring me into waiting cause they're like "well anything can happen still so don't let it slip yet". So it's just scary cause this is my first baby. Also my mom miscarried with her first before she had me...so I'm a little hesitant considering I get all the things that cause issues from her but 10x worse
I did get to see the heartbeat at 6w 5d though and that helped reassure me a lot, currently 8w 3d
