No vaccination, no visit?

Question

Most of my immediate family is not willing to get the necessary vaccines for the arrival of my newborn, and I have sent out a no vax, no visit announcement.. am I crazy?

I didn't vote, because both answers seem extreme. I wouldn't call you crazy, but wouldn't call it necessary either. I'm assuming you're from the US? Not sure if there other illnesses there than here in Europe, but I literally don't know anybody here who asked visitors to be vaccinated. During the first weeks I only allowed visits from family and close friends and I trusted them not to visit if they were sick. Will do the same now with my second baby.

You're child, your rules. 100% agree with this. If they want to visit, they'll have to vaccinate. Otherwise, that's on them as to why they aren't allowed

I only made people who were going to be around her multiple times a week get it. That is what my dr recommended, so pretty much Her Uncle, grandpa and grandma.

i made everyone get the tdap. the way i see it, if i got it while i was pregnant, they needed to get it

My twins were born 8 weeks early and during flu season. They were in the nicu. The nicu would not let anyone in to see them unless they had the flu shot and were up to date on vaccines. They wouldn’t even let my other kids come see them. I saw babies in there that were tiny and so sick. It was enough to make me want all immediate visitors be up to date on vaccines if they wanted to visit. We did this till the babies were 4 months then we eased up on it. I have no regrets. Your baby your rules.

I'm due in December, and if they havent recieved their flu shot, they're not visiting her until flu season is over. 🤷‍♀️

I'm not forcing anyone to vaccinate in order to visit. If they have the flu, they have it. If they don't, they don't. The vaccine just makes them less likely to get it. I'll be asking my mom, who will be spending a lot d time with us after baby is born, to get the vaccine. But no way am I going to tell all our friends and family they can't meet our baby without a vaccine. I am 100% pro-vaccine but I personally think that's crazy.

U can tell them to vaccinate but doesnt mean you’ll actually know whether they are or not. The average adult your child will be around is not fully/up to date on vaccinations
