Nexplanon or no Nexplanon?

I got my Nexplanon implant in around February of last year and I have had severe cramps, minimal bleeding but lots of spotting and discharge. I havent had an actual period since about a month after Nexplanon. I gained a lot of weight and now I lost 30+ lbs in about 2 months, due to unknown reasons. I've been depressed since I got it, and much more problems. Does anyone have any advice on what works best for them? Should I get it taken out or go through the waves? What other birth control options are there that aren't the pill?

Theres the shot you can get every 3 months, patch you change weekly, ring you change monthly. Iuds hormonal and non hormonal that last between 3 to 12 years. Plannedparenthood.org lists all methods along with insertion/how to use and common side effects. Bedsider.org is a great resource because you can compare 2 methods at a time side by side. They also have the most commonly asked questions per method. It would be good to talk to your doctor about your options based on your needs, medical history and what youre looking for.

I’ve had my nexplanon out for two weeks & im a completely different person. Highly recommend ditching that shit & getting the pill unless you really just don’t mind the side effects.

I would definitely recommend at least speaking with your GP or OBGYN about how it’s been making you feel. I’ve has two Nexplanons back to back and haven’t experienced many of the side effects, but it differs in everyone since your body can act differently in your reaction to the hormones. Your OB or your GP can help find another option that may help you feel less depressed without having to sacrifice the no periods :)

I was told it can take 3 months but have really d articles it can take up to a year (person to person varies) for your body to get use to it, and to give it time. BUT if your side effects are too much to handle, please talk to your gyn. As much as I have been way better with my moods switching from tri-sprintec pill too this implant, and still waiting for spotting to stop after a week, I know other people who just could not handle it and had to go back to another form of BC. Talk to your doc asap!

I’ve had nexplanon since June 6 2023 I have been bleeding since with maybe 2 to days max in between every now and then no bleeding… I’m over exhausted.. been getting feelings of a heart attack but hospital says it’s not they don’t know why I feel like that here and there I grab my chest… i was put on pills with the implant recently to help regulate a period that shit didn’t help… still bleeding it’s annoying cause who wants to bleed every day… I know if I take it out I’m gonna get pregnant… right now I don’t want nor am I thinking of having any more children I have 5… this shit is stressing me out… I can’t think straight at times feel like I’m losing my fckin mind… ready to have it removed… I can’t do it anymore… too many issues some I haven’t even mentioned..
