My grandfather is in the hospital on life support due to congestive heart failure and I have a 6 week old who isn’t old enough for vaccines yet and I’m at a loss on what to do.. this could be his last day but I don’t want my baby to get sick.. what should I do?

Put hand sanitizer on the stroller in case you need to touch the baby, and cover the carseat with a muslin blanket or cover. Baby won't get sick from your grandpa, it's more from touching things like elevator buttons, doorknobs, pens etc. So use sanitizer.  Baby will be fine.

So I was in the same situation (didn’t visit a hospital) but my mom was going down hill due to stage 4 cancer. We drove 12hrs to see her and 3 weeks later she passed away so we had to drive 12 hrs again. I had to bring my 7 week old daughter with me both time. She was at the wake and the funeral which had tons of people at the start of flue season and unvaccinated. We just didn’t let anyone near her. My best friend held her the whole time and didn’t let anyone touch her. 
Just go. You’ll regret it.

Even find someone to tag team with you and keep baby in the car. If you have a carrier you can keep baby all wrapped up on you which will limit exposure to germs. Or a car seat/stroller combo. Anything that will keep baby isolated from germs and prevent them from getting touched a lot.
