Tongue tied procedure?

I’m stuck on what to do. My baby latches and feeds pretty well. I’ve heard that it can affect speech later on. Did anyone get this done with their babies? Does it hurt them after? How long does it take to heal? Is it necessary if it isn’t mild? Any advice would be appreciated! 
She’s 5 days old today.

My son has a tongue tie- he’s 11 days old. He hasn’t showed any issues, feeds well, doesn’t leak milk or drool. My doctor said it’s not an issue, so we’ll see if it becomes an issue later on, but he’s optimistic that it’ll be totally fine and he doesn’t think it will effect speech or other things. I was okay with getting it clipped if need be, but if it’s not necessary, I don’t mind waiting either. From what I’ve heard and the research I’ve done, it’s a very minor procedure. It’s totally up to you and your baby’s physician- it’s better to have it done sooner rather than later if it will improve baby’s health. 😊

If baby is eating well and gaining weight, I would leave it. My daughter wasn’t gaining weight or using her tongue to pull milk out of my breast. So we had it done at 2 weeks. The procedure and healing was so much easier than I thought it would be.
