10/15/19 Birth Center Birth

Alexandra • Tucker 2013 💙 Liliana 2019 💜 Kaalia 2020 💖

I went into labor early morning on 10/15! I was 39+1. Last belly selfie while I was in labor and getting things ready for the birth center. :)

My husband was my absolute rock throughout labor. He was right there with me through every single contraction once I was in active labor. Literally every single one. Poor guy had to pee so bad at one point and had to make a mad dash in between my contractions lol. He was the best birth partner ever.

Here’s our goofy smiling photo after I got checked and we were told I was dilated to 9 cm!!

My water was still in tact and we waited awhile thinking it would rupture any time. My water did NOT want to break on its own so the midwife broke it.

I was still having a tough time getting that last centimeter, so I had to walk around and walk up and down stairs. 😐

After that I gave up. I said I wanted to go to the hospital and get an epidural. I was seriously done.

But then I started screaming bloody murder and got on the bed. My doula gently pointed out in between contractions that she noticed a change and thought I was at a 10 and ready to push. So I let them check me and it was time to rock and roll.

I had a really, really hard time getting in the groove of pushing. Baby wasn’t descending all that well so they wanted to me start bearing down with contractions to move her. It was so hard and so tiring.

It took what felt like an eternity. I was exhausted and so discouraged. I really didn’t think she was ever going to be born.

My midwife had me get up and change pushing positions every 10-15 minutes. I hated it every time but I knew it was what I needed to do.

Finally she was right there and so close. I screamed bloody murder, especially when she was crowning. I screamed at the top of my lungs “GET. HER. OUT!”

It was so damn hard. But we did it! She came out with a perfect cry, weighing a whopping 8 pounds and 13 and a half ounces. So perfect and so healthy. I only have one tiny tear that didn’t even need to get stitched. :)

I did get some pretty terrible shakes and was freezing after delivery for about 45 minutes. They said it was hormones and the adrenaline.

Baby latched perfectly and has been a nursing champ. We were good to leave the birth center and go home 4 hours after delivery.

We’ve been in absolute bliss ever since. 💕

I’m convinced I would have ended up in a c section if I would have been at the hospital. I am forever grateful for the kick ass job my midwife did, and the support of my whole birth team!

CONGRATS!!! I had my second child (daughter) at a birth center in the tub. And I would LOVE to experience that again (with my third on the way) but my husband said it’s a hard no. It’s his first bio kid and he’s freaked out by the birth and wants a hospital setting. He even tried telling me I will be having an elective c section. 😂 That’s where I draw the line bud. Nobody is cutting into me unless it’s absolutely medically necessary. I’m hoping he comes around to the birth center idea. I doubt it though. Lol

Oh gosh I felt your story to the core that last 2 cm I was so done! Our baby girl also was born 10-15 at 39 +1!!! I told the nurse ok get me the epidural knowing full well it wasnt coming in time i just wanted to feel like it was 😂😂😂 lo and behold while she was on the phone with my dr to get the orders one contraction came and I knew oh here we go then I felt baby FLIP she was sunny side up then flipped face down at the last contraction one more contraction after she flipped and I yelled shes coming out I feel her head her head is out meanwhile nurse is still on the phone and my best friend and my husband lift the blankets because they hadn't even broke away the bed yet and they yell the head is out!!! The nurse flies out of our room gets people coming she was delivered before they got back this literally all happened in a matter of probably 2-3 minutes and the rest of our stay we heard about our delivery over and over cuz the nurse was so surprised how quickly things escalated baby was healthy and the dr was worried about tearing because she came out so fast but nope thank goodness in hind sight I'm almost glad I had to be induced because as fast as she came theres no way I would have made it to the hospital 😂😂 congrats in your beautiful girl, we did it we finally met our beautiful babies!!

Congratulations, I delivered naturally on 10-15 also to a 9 lb 4 oz babygirl!! I am right there with you on the giving up at the end. I was also screaming on the bed saying I wanted more drugs and I didnt want to do this anymore. Had the shakes and had to change positions for pushing but luckily once I stood up off the the bed, baby dropped and it was only 3 pushes and she was out, born with her hand by her shoulders so it hurt just as bad as her 14.5 inch head!! 😊😊 Happy recovery, like you I also barely tore. Our bodies are a wonderful creation. Hats off to wonderful support systems, I had both my husband and also an amazing doula who never left my side. 💖 You are an inspiration!!

Congrats on your healthy baby girl!!! I love that we delivered on the same day, both had big girls, and both screamed at the end, and barely tore! I hope the first few days with baby have gone well! ❤️

Congratulations. I'm happy you and baby are doing well and are healthy. I'm also happy you had a great experience.I delivered all 3 of mine in the hospital. My first was by far my longest and hardest labor. I was sent to the hospital at 39wks exactly due to a sudden spike in my blood pressure as well as swelling and nausea. They started my induction process and 48hrs later I was still in labor. My boy wouldn't drop, I was on max pitocin and my epidural that I begged for didn't take. However, I dilated to 10 and they told me to start practice pushing. He would come down and crown with every practice push and contraction, but when it finished he went right back up. He was stuck behind a vaginal muscle that my ob had to reach in and stretch every time he crowned. They let me labor. They let me push and they had me change positions. I pushed for 3hrs straight with every contraction. And they let me. They never mentioned the words c-section to me. They were amazing. My second birth I was induced. I dilated to 8.5 a lot faster but he wouldn't drop. Again they let me change positions until it was time to push and he came out.My 3rd I was induced too. She also hadn't dropped. We were trying different positions etc. Until my midwife checked and I was suddenly dilated to 10 and wanted me to practice push as she gowned up, as she watched my contraction come I barely started pushing when she told me to stop because the baby was going to come out on the next contraction, they didn't even have time to break down the bed and the next contraction my girl came out. She had a short cord and would have never dropped. The hospital I delivered at and the amazing Drs I had never made me feel pressured to do anything. They let me control my birth experience and were so supportive.I feel so bad for the women who feel pressured into certain things.
