Am I being dramatic?

Question

So I asked my man to come with me to the pumpkin patch with me an my kids and he said no. He explained to me that he doesn’t do stuff like that . Fireworks, light shows , Christmas tree lighting etc . It really upset me because I want to make memories with him an my kids as a family an go out and do things together but he won’t budge . I asked him to think about it he refuses . I’m not sure if it’s an age thing (I’m 24 and he’s 41) but it kinda discouraged me about our relationship . I even asked that when the baby gets here (I’m 11 weeks pregnant) will I have to take the baby and do things with it on my own an he said yea . Maybe I’m being a lil dramatic but I’m disappointed I wanted to have a nice day with the man I love an my kids take a couple pictures and just enjoy the day . He thinks spending time with each other is laying up watching tv an he doesn’t feel the need to do extra things because we live together ..... should I bring this to his attention or suck it up and accept it ?

My friend just divorced her husband of 15 years and two kids for this reason. It went from a “difference in things we enjoy” to him just being completely disengaged from the family. I’m sorry you’re having a baby with him, I wouldn’t be happy in the long run with someone like this.

I mean he could suck it up every now and again. Those kids are going to learn to resent him because they’re going to think he doesn’t care about them. They’re going to think that he doesn’t love them because he won’t go anywhere with them. He needs to go sometimes. It’s fine to miss out here and there but not all the time..

I don’t think you’re being dramatic.. But sometimes people just aren’t into certain things.... Definitely let him know how you feel about it but sometimes can’t change their minds... 
I am one of those who are not really into holiday stuff... But I’ve done pumpkin patch just for my son to enjoy his first year. But I don’t plan to do Christmas stuff 🤭 I prefer to be home watching movies of the holiday.. lol I really really don’t like Halloween but I’ll watch movies and Christmas movies I love.

Some people arent into it and thays fine but i would force someone to do something they dont want to do. I knew a kid in school who wasnt allowed to celebreate anythung like thay because his family dont do anything like.

My husband is like this and he’s a couple of years younger (I’m 32 and he’s 30). He told me he was like this from the beginning. Thankfully I’m the same way 😂 I hate doing those things and would rather be at home.

That’s disappointing. I might ask if this is something that will ever be compromised on for the sake of making you happy of if he will just never budge. In which case that would be a deal breaker for me and I would have to reconsider being with someone like that.

Bring it to his attention. You don’t have to suck it up and just deal with it. Idk how hard it is for him to spend time with family if he truly loves you and the family. He may never change but you at least serve to know why he behaves this way. It could be social anxiety for all you know. Maybe all these family events also include being around other large groups of people. And at home it’s safe. Either way don’t keep it in, you two need to have a serious discussion about what’s going on here so that you know how to proceed. You’re still young
