White patches on tonsils but viral?

Sorry for the gross picture. It was the best one I could get... but anyways these aren’t tonsil stones. I’ve had them before and when you push on these nothing comes out. This also spreads down the bottom of my tonsil like a streak.

My throat is sore so I went to an urgent care because it’s a Saturday. I tested negative for strep and they said it was viral. But I’m concerned.. because do you even get white patches on swollen tonsils with a viral infection?
