Only getting my period 4 times a year

Okay so I just started this new birth control, it comes in pills that you take every day, and it’s supposed to make you only have your period every 3 months, and I don’t really know much about it, but I started taking it because my cramps are so bad that I basically can’t do anything when I’m on my period, like I can barely go to school or work because I’m just so sick, anyway, I know some of the side effects and all that, but for the people that are on it right now, I just wanna know your opinions on it, like does it work ? Do you get spotting a lot ? Is your period heavier or lighter ? And just like your positive and negative thoughts on it overall, anything is appreciated
