Unprotected sex on sugar pill?

Is it considered safe to engage in unprotected sex whilst on the sugar pills?? I've always heard that you will still be protected for the duration you take them.

It is safe as long as you took all the active pills correctly. The pill, when taken correctly, stops the egg from dropping therefore no egg to fertilize. The 'period' you experience on the sugar pills is a drop in hormones, not a real period. I regularly have sex on the sugar pills, but being as paranoid as I am, I asked my boyfriend pull out before ejaculation.
