What happens if you don’t give baby vitamin d drops?

My baby is 7 weeks and I’m wondering what happens if I don’t give her vitamin d drops

My baby is 2 weeks old and we are giving her ONE drop of Vitamin D.... because I’m breast feeding (so she’s not getting it from formula). Also because we live in New York State. This was recommended by our pediatrician.

Lol I have 3 kids and never have them the vitamin d drops. Nothing happens if you don’t they still get the nutrients they need from your breast milk.

I’ve never even heard of doing this before. I already have 3 kids and have never given them vitamin d drops. Now I’m curious....

They can develop rickets disease which has to do with soft bones. Google search

nothing IF you take her outside daily for a little while, like an hour. There are other ways, also, to get vitamin d. I never give my kids the drops, we live in california and are outside constantly.

I had a winter baby in Minnesota, so we weren’t getting much, if any, sun exposure. Since I was breastfeeding it was recommended to me to give her vitamin D drops. But it’s also recommended to most adults in our area (to supplement vitamin D) because of our higher risk for Seasonal Affective Disorder.

My dr said my first didn’t need it because she was a summer baby and we went outside pretty much daily for walks. I was just prescribed it to give to my sept baby since it’s getting cold and we won’t be outside soon. I haven’t started giving it to her yet
