Rituals and customs around menstruation
I was raised Hindu (though I don’t practice anymore) by South Indian parents where there are a lot of restrictions on women around the time they have their period. When I was a teenager, I wasn’t allowed physical contact with anyone for those three days, especially men. I wasn’t allowed to pray, go to the temple or enter the kitchen at home. It’s a lot to put down here but if you’re curious, you can read about my experiences here:

In India, these customs have religious origins that have been warped into sexist superstitions over many years by society. Currently, there is a lot of rebellion by modern women against these rules.
I was just wondering what customs, if any, other cultures practice? Are they similarly restrictive? Do you still practice them? And if yes, would you enforce such rules on your children?
