So, for starters, I’m 14. For as long as I can remember, I’ve had two vaginal openings. One is large enough for a tampon, while the other is reasonably small. There’s a thin band of skin (which is about the width of a pencil, and the length of a quarter) that’s separating them, and about 2 weeks ago, I worked up the courage to ask my mom if it was normal. She sort of brushed it aside, and the other night, my tampon got caught on the band of skin. The skin hurt the more I stretched it, but eventually I got it out. The weird thing was that the tampon had practically no blood on it, so it hadn’t expanded in the slightest. I immediately told her, as this had never happened before, and she suggested that she should take a look. Earlier today, I took a bath, and afterwards she looked. First of all, it was extremely awkward. Secondly, she told me to give her a couple of days to think. Thirdly, she told me not to look it up because she thought bad things would come up. Weeks prior to this, I did look it up. It seems to be what is called a septate hymen, but I don’t want to suggest the idea for multiple reasons. For starters, she would know I looked it up. But, in the past, I’ve told her about a couple of things that I found abnormal, and she’s taken me to the doctor (who told me I’m fine). She called me a hypochondriac since (according to her) I obsess over my health. I don’t want her to think I’m just freaking out for no reason and dismiss it or get mad at me. I just needed to vent. Sorry. 😂.
