If you have been in an abusive relationship, how/when did you find the strength to leave?

Yes, emotionally abusive... I just kept trying to work it out and it just wasn’t working. For six years. Then one day just something he said took me over the edge and￼ it was just the straw that broke the camels back. I had had enough! I literally could not live like that one second longer. ￼So￼ I told his mother to come and get him because he’s no longer welcome here and if she didn’t, I was gonna start packing his shit and put it all outside￼.￼ They both knew I was dead serious and that was the end of that. ￼

It took a long time for me to leave all my abusive ex’s. The abuse ranged from physical to verbal to emotional to psychological to sexual..... and it was with several different past men. You have to basically emotionally withdraw yourself from the situation so you can see what’s going on. And that part isn’t easy. But when you do, it’s like night and day! And then, only then did I find the strength to say enough is enough. I’m very choosy on who I get with now

At some point, I just felt like I was going insane. I knew then that I needed to leave (it took years though). I think once you’ve had enough.... you just find the strength to leave.
