Contractions question

FTM, doctor says I’ll know when the contractions are real and not BH. What I’m wondering is are contractions felt in the entire abdomen or can they be more localized?

I’ve been feeling ‘tightening’ regularly today but always on the right hand side of my bump and more towards the top of it. Not like period cramp location.

Oh I’m 35+3 weeks.
