Breastfeed and bottle questions...
My LO is turning 4 weeks old tomorrow and the past three nights have been a mess. We were fine with our baby's cluster feeding hours but there are new challenges now. Since the day she was born she had no issues with latching, you would put her near the breast and she'd grab the nipple and she would not stop sucking until she was done...But now she has been doing this thing where she latches and then she starts moving a whole lot and she lets go (making a milky mess all over the both of us) and she would do this several times each feeding which would end up in her spitting a lot (and I mean a LOT) while still on the breast and then she'd be gassy and she would be hungry again within 30 min and we burp her several times during this process in an attempt to help the situation. This has made feeding sessions last over an hour with all the interruptions and crying and spitting up and burping...during this time she'd take the breast at least 4 or 5 times and repeat everything I mentioned.
So last night we decided try feeding her a couple times with the bottle so we could at least ensure she is getting a full normal feeding sessiaon. What we did is I'd have her in one breast and I'd have the haakaa pump in the other breast then we would put the milk in a bottle and in the fridge so the next feeding we'd give her what the haakaa collected (usually 2 or 3 oz)...this works okay.
Now, my concern is: the last time we did this (30 min ago), I was warming the bottle and I always stir it but I guess I was sleepy and I ended up shaking the bottle which caused the milk to have lots of foam. This is the first time I see foam in my breastmilk, is this normal? Is it because it was shaken or could've been soap residue in the bottle? I repeat, I've never shaken the bottle before, I usually just stir it and it doesn't make it foamy.
