Thoughts on going by middle name?

What are your thoughts on naming your baby and then calling him by his middle name? What if the name flows better with the name you want as the middle name first?

Both my parents go by their middle names. My mom always told us to just name our kids what we plan on calling them, to make it easier on them.

Both my brother and I go by our middle names...I honestly hated it growing up. Every time a new school year would start, I would have to correct them to call me Ellen. Any time I have to fill out any type of legal paperwork, it has my first name on it and then the doctors, etc only know me by my first name, not Ellen. Of course, I was and still am very adamant that people call me by Ellen (middle name) since that’s what my mom wanted me to go by. And it’s a story every time I meet someone new that I go by my middle name. 
My brother on the other hand, doesn’t care. We’ve called him by his middle name since birth but as he went through high school and college, he doesn’t correct anyone on what name he actually goes by 🤦🏻‍♀️
I’ve known a lot of people growing up who went by their middle names but I told my husband when we have children that they won’t be going by their middle names 🤷🏻‍♀️

I literally just found out that a friend of mine goes by her middle name, I thought that was her first name for years.

My grandma was always called Louise and didn't know her first name was Maggie until she was like 50 something. 
My mom was brought into a his, hers, and ours household (her half sisters father got custody of her because her bio mom was a p.o.s. and her bio dad was out of the picture) her first name is Teresa and her "step sister" was Theresa and was older, so my mom was called by her middle Michele. 
I know a few other people that go by there middles, but mainly because the first name was over done in their school grade growing up, so to make it easier they would go by middle instead of like 10 Joshuas or 10 Michaels.

There are some people in my family that call me Ann (my middle name). Not everyone does, just some people. Or Annie.  I don’t even remember when that started but it doesn’t bother me ever. I know what my first name is and what my middle name is lol It’s just like a nickname kind of. If that’s what you wanna do then def go for it!

My grandma (Ina Joyce) and her sister (Lorna Margaret) both went by their middle names their whole lives. I knew them as Grandma Joyce and Aunt Margaret and didn’t even know their legal first names until I was older.
Aunt Margaret’s daughter (Ellen Barbara) also goes by her middle name as well. I don’t know that it was intentional by any of them, just that their middle names maybe fit them better as they grew up. It got a little confusing sometimes in situations where their legal names became important (like in the hospital), but for day-to-day purposes it wasn’t really a problem. They just introduced themselves how they wanted to be known.
I’d say put consideration into both names with the idea you might use either.

I've always gone by my middle name and honestly it's so annoying. I thought really hard about legally changing my middle name to my first name, but it would've been too much of a hassle and I don't like paperwork lol. So I just deal with it, but it's a real pain in the ass.

All three of my brothers go by their middles names🤷...i also use my children's middle names instead of their first. I guess it's just a common theme in my family🤷

We should rather just have the middle name as the only name in that case..
But we are not middle-name-fans. 
So even tho he has a first and middle name, and two last names, and I have a first and two different last names, our baby will one have one first and last name, no middle. And I'll just take one of his last names and discard my last names when we get married.
