My last baby had something that looked exactly like this and our pediatric called it cradle cap. Her recommendation was the same was the other poster. She said in the bath to take a baby hair brush and go against the flakes gently. Every bath a little bit came off and eventually it was gone.

My princess had dry scalp not as bad as that but my son did too and I always found burts bees multi purpose ointment! It is like a butter that turns to oil. I applied it every 2-3 days and let it sit for the whole day and put a hat on them; then would comb it throughout the day and the next morning wash it all out and a good brush and comb and it worked after two weeks it had completely cleared up! I LOVE the burts bees line and highly recommend it! The best part is you can use the ointment for anything even diaper changes! I also use it as a fave mask for me as my skin has been super dry! I got my little girl the fridababy cradle cap “system” (like 15 dollars on amazon) and it’s worked like magic. It has a little brush with soft fine bristles that loosen up the flakiness, and then a fine comb that’s curved to the shape of her head to lift all the flakes out. I didn’t use any special shampoo, just her normal baby shampoo. She seems to enjoy it when I use it too, although she loves baths and water in general so she’s usually a pretty happy baby when I wash her anyway.

It’s cradle cap or also called seborrhea. The pediatrician told me to put coconut oil (or any type of oil) but she had a reaction to it. So I started putting breast milk ( I pump so whenever I prepare bottles I use a q tip and soak it with the thicker milk). It’s worked really well!

It’s remnants of the skin coating he had while he was inside the womb. In the bath, take a baby rag or sponge and lightly scrub it with each cleaning. It comes off little by little. Even use a rag in the hair. When he’s done with his bath take a baby brush to his hair and make sure to go against his scalp. The brush gets rid of that and at the same time exfoliates his follicles, lets the loose baby hair come out and then let’s the new hair come in.
