I work for a small PR firm. It’s a highly competitive industry and I worked hard to get to my current point. I had a baby two years ago and since then worked for a different firm that went under in August. My boss over there brought me to where we are now, to work for her. There is one other team of two that works in our same division. However we are on different teams. My boss and I handle accounts up to 1mil and the other two girls handle accounts up to $500k. The commission is higher on our end, not by a lot, but it helps.

So the girl doing my position on the other team does not get along with her boss. I sensed from the beginning when I started there. She would visit our office a lot and vent about her boss. But what I didn’t know up until now is that she is vying to steal my position. She wants to work with my boss, and told her that this week. I know they get along well, but I get along fine with my boss too. I don’t like however, that they are chatting back and forth like this girl even has the option of taking my spot just because she can’t get along with her boss, who isn’t even that bad by the way.

I’m not sure whether to confront her or just take the high road and act like I’m not bothered that she essentially wants to take my position. Since I just started for the company, I do not feel completely confident in my staying power, especially now that this chick is trying to pull the rug from under me. In other words, I don’t want to be too vocal about this situation and it backfiring in my face. Any advice appreciated!
