Boys birthday party ideas

My son is turning 8 next month and since I’m on maternity leave I can’t afford to book an expensive party at a fun play place this year so we are settling for the community hall in our complex which just requires a damage deposit. It the place is clean and in good shape after the party then I’ll get my deposit back. I’m just not sure how to entertain 16 8 years olds for a couple hours. Any suggestions?
