What should I buy for my newborn to sleep in?

Any specific recommendations are welcome, but I'm trying not to buy stuff that won't end up getting used.

If you can fit a crib in your room i would just buy a crib. We got a bassinet for the first 6 months and then moved baby to a crib in their own room. By that time they have outgrown the bassinet.....but some people don’t have large bedrooms to be able to fit the crib in there as well.

We used a bassinet for bedtime. But used the crib for nap times to get them used to sleeping in that as well.

If you can do both I would. Bassinet or cosleeper is nice for night time but that said my kids both preferred their own rooms and cribs at 3 months and 1.5 months.

We never used a bassinet. A bedside crib is very useful if you want to co sleep.

We used the pack n play with bassinet on top

We have our son in his crib in his room (with a spare queen bed next to it that we sleep in) and downstairs we have a pack n play we use for naps. It’s worked really well for us.

Can you rent a bassinet from anywhere? Or buy a cheap one 2nd hand. It can be really useful

I did a pack n play with a bassinet insert work amazing then you have the pack n play still when he outgrows the bassinet

I have both. Crib for the room and bassinet for the living room if baby wants to sleep while we have family time! My son he’s about to be 3 now he did amazing in a crib never had problems!

We got a crib for his room and a pack n play with bassinet attachment for our room. He moved to his crib around 4 months but we still regularly use the pack n play when out of town
