Fast let-down... ready to give up

Hi y'all.

So my baby is 5 weeks old and for the first 2 weeks, breastfeeding was going really well. Then since about 3 weeks it's been going from bad to worse. I feel like my let down is super fast and my baby can't feed correctly. He's coughing and spitting milk while nursing, constantly latching on and off. My milk is flowing everywhere on him and on me, its ultra messy... but what's really making me want to quit is that he's constantly crying from start to finish while nursing, and for about 30 min to 1 hour after a feeding. He's not like that with a bottle.

Any advice or do i just give it up ?

Despite all this, he's gaining weight super fast and his diapers are wet so I'm not concerned that he's not doing well, i just find breastfeed absolutely annoying and it's becoming stressful instead of being a pleasant moment.
