Anyone have strong advice about what type of insurance is best to have for a newborn?

I know I can change it after the baby is born, but I feel like I get mixed advice.

So, it depends on your financial situation as well as the cost of the PPO plan and if your employer contributes to the HSA. If you still have the info on your plans I would look at them closely. Newborns need a lot of routine appts and hopefully nothing major pops up, but if it does it’s a lot of money. I would lean towards PPO, but it ultimately depends on utilization and cost of the plan.

HSA's are good if your employer contributes to the account, AND you don't have any unexpected medical expenses.
Otherwise, I prefer PPO plans.

I don't know what HSA is, but with any insurance it's best to look at the individual policy and see things like copays, out of pocket max, deductible etc and what your preferred drs accept. If my child had a serious medical condition I'd want a ppo because you can go out of network, but we've always had an hmo and never a problem staying in network.
