Brothers pt.32b

After more dancing & eating, the toasts were given by the best man & maid of honor. First to go was Catherine, the maid of honor.

Catherine: I want to apologize in advance... I’m a little tipsy.

Jocelyn: A little?!

Everyone laughs.

Catherine: First of all, my name is Catherine. I’m the maid of honor. I knew Leila since the 6th grade. She was the quiet, sweet friend who always shared her snacks with everyone. She was the most thoughtful & caring person I’ve ever known. The rest of the bride tribe can agree with me on this, when Leila is in love, she’s at her happiest. Her smile radiates & beams so big you can probably see it from space. Vance, please take care of our sweetie pie.

Vance: Will do.

Catherine: And Leila, always know that you are loved, thought of & cared for. Congratulations to the newly Mr. & Mrs. Phillips!

Everyone raised their glasses for the toast.

Catherine pats James on the back as he heads to the stage for his speech. He looks at Leila & her eyes pine for him.

James: Hi everyone, I’m James Phillips, the groom’s younger brother. I honestly don’t believe I should’ve been the best man. I was probably chosen above these guys cause I’m related to the groom, but whatever the case, it has been a privilege. My charge to the bride & groom is to...

James paused to look at his father & then at Leila.

James: Sorry, let me rephrase that. For a man & woman who love each other, don’t stop believing in love, don’t stop believing in the future & don’t stop believing in each other. So with that, let’s raise our glasses & toast to love.

Everyone raises their glasses for the toast.

After the reception, there was a beautiful white & gold horse drawn carriage with 4 beautiful white horses hitched up. All the guests lined up at the exit & made a pathway for the carriage. Vance got in first & held Leila’s hand as she got in. She slipped on her way up & James was behind her & caught her fall. She fell into his arms & smiled. He then lifted her hand up to help her regain momentum into the carriage.

Leila: Bye James.

James: I’ll see you soon, I promise.

Vance: Bye bro! Thanks for everything!

James: Bye, have a safe trip you guys.

As the carriage rode away, they waved at their guests. When the carriage reached the end of the path, Leila glanced back & in the midst of all the people, all her eyes were focused on was James. He lifted up his hand to say bye.
