Breastfeeding concern?

I'm a new mama and I'm about a week into postpartum, so I have a question if anybody can share their thoughts! I've just started breastfeeding and I noticed right after that my nipples feel sore, should I be concerned that it's due to latching or is it part of breastfeeding at first? Thank you to anyone that can share their experiences ♡

It hurt me for a while at the beginning. My baby was trying to get down the latch and my nipples weren’t used to it. It has gotten a lot better. My baby is almost 20 weeks now. I can’t recommend seeing a lactation consultant enough if you have access to one. Mine helped me a lot - and gave me peace of mind as a new mom.

Hang in there mama!! The first few weeks can be really painful - I worked with a lactation consultant every week and it took about a month before my son’s latch didn’t make my toes curl it hurt so much (16 months later we’re still going strong, he’s nursing as I write this!). Most insurances cover a lactation consultant - and check to see if any hospitals in your area offer free breastfeeding support groups! Lots of hospitals do now, so they are a great resource! Nipple cream in between feedings (or coconut oil if you don’t have cream). Medela also makes these gel pads that were my lifesavers (you can get them in Amazon). You’ve got this mama!

My laction consultant advised me to use a nipple shield in which that help a little bit and also use some lanolin cream but like the other lady said if u can go to one they can help a lot.
