Whose used the Ferber Method?

Question

Anyone used it for your 5/6 month old or another older baby? How did it go for you? My baby really needs help to sleep longer than 30 minutes for naps.

The 30 minute naps might just be a neurological development thing and might not be affected by any sort of sleep training. My daughter took four 4 minutes naps until she was about 6.5 months old when magically they started to lengthen out. We had sleep trained her at 4 months and she could put herself to sleep and fall back asleep with no problem. Her brain just wasn’t ready to take longer naps yet.

My baby is still taking 30 min naps. We did a Ferber-ish method for nighttime sleeping because he was waking up 6x a night and after the first night, it took two times going into his room, he fell asleep and has been waking up MUCH less—only once or twice versus 6x. They do eventually consolidate their naps. My first didn’t consolidate until after 6 months

Please don’t do that to your baby. It’s a normal development they are going through. Babys instincts kick in to make sure they are safe and mommy is nearby taking care of them. Used to be very useful back when the tiger was near or the cold was creeping in... It may be tough for you to wake up in the night. But your babys brain is not ready to sleep through the night yet. Babys only way to tell you they have a certain need is crying. They are far to young for being able to wake you ‘on purpose’. You cannot spoil a baby. 
The Ferber method has been proven by studies to be very bad for your child’s development. They do fall asleep at some stage from exhaustion, it’s like an emergency shutdown. They still wake up in the night, but they don’t cry because they have learned the hard way being traumatised from being left alone.

We did as she was waking 3 times a night and even staying awake. First night was poo but then we moved her into her own room and she’s been sleeping 8-5 even since. Naps.. yeah they still suck. She will be awake 2-2.5 hours then nap for 30-45 mins and occasionally she will do a 1.5 hour nap. They say they just naturally join their sleep cycles eventually.

I do!!! Well started too. But his naps are still poop . Between 30mins to an hour even on Training but he sleeps much better at night now and for naps I use extinction with parental presence method and stick around and pretend I’m sleeping or and console less often(like ferber) so he knows I’m there but still soothes himself to sleep. Buy yeah. Poop naps so far. Maybe it’ll get better in time sometimes outta nowhere if he needs up napping for 2 hours lets say then he will struggle more at night and has crazy sleeping hours
