Have you gone to your 6 week post partum check up yet?

Just got home from mine. The dr. said everything looked good and did a pap smear too. I really wish the pap smear wouldn't have happened. It hurt way more than I thought it would. They say I dont have to come back until a year for my next one and didnt even ask how my mental state was. For some reason, I just felt a bit sad leaving. I had to keep from crying as we left and I'm honestly not really sure why lol. 
I guess it just really feels like I'm shutting the door on that part of my life. First pregnancy..done.

That’s odd they didn’t ask about your mental state. They had me fill out a full on survey about postpartum depression. ￼

I actually know how you feel in terms of feeling sad, the six week postpartum has a certain finality about it. This is baby number 3 for me and it’s happened with each one. For me it’s totally not postpartum depression, but it is a sense of sadness that everything Id been looking forward to for so long is now over with. It’s like you wait and wait and wait and go through so much and then in a blink of an eye is all over. I also get a bit sad when I leave the hospital too lol. I feel this connection to it and it’s hard for me to leave even though I’m looking forward to going home. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Mine was the opposite! She just asked me if I was still bleeding, what my plan was for birth control, and how my mood was. She didn't examine me physically at all, and I even had an episiotomy 🤔

I thought they changed the recommendations for pap smears from every year to every three years...

I was only checked with my first because I was still in pain. Turns out I had still had a stitch that didn’t dissolve lol so my doctor pulled it out in her office. Hoping I don’t need an examine this time as I don’t even see the need for an appointment.

I had a long appointment I saw the midwife who delivered my baby and we went through the mental state and she increased my zoloft, because while I'mnot the completesad sack I was when my daughterwas in NICU I am still not completely better. For the physical she used a virgin speculum, and then we talked about BC.

I honestly didn’t even schedule one. I always come out of those appointments asking myself what the point of it was. With my first two babies I was never checked down there....they ask if I was still bleeding or have started my period, about my mental state and then spend the rest of the appointment  pushing birth control. I’ve never been on birth control, my mental state is fine and I’m not bleeding. So I didn’t go. 🤷🏼‍♀️ Here in 6 months or so I’ll go in for a pap.
