Do you go through lots of bottles? 🍼

Question

I received about 15 baby bottles as gifts? Should I keep them or should I return some of them? This is my first baby so I am not sure if I will use all of them?

Lots of bottles means lots more bottle washing. Usually 4 is enough... otherwise you may find yourself behind in washing them and that can be pretty overwhelming.

You might go through 4 or 5 in a day. But, with my son i bought 4 different brands in order to find what worked best for him. He had really bad colic and the only bottles that helped were the Avent anti colic bottles. So, maybe don’t get rid of them just yet. Wait to see how sensitive your baby may or may not be and which bottle he/she likes best.

I have 14 bottles. I (like you) had no idea how many to get before our first was born. We keep 8 in rotation and the others in the cabinet. I EBF, but also work full time- 3 x 12 hour days. I send 4 bottles to Daycare. And my husband feeds our son the last feed of the day so we can pack him full up before bed. So we typically only use 5 a day on my work days. The other 3 get filled as I pump to store my milk in the fridge. I like having the option of being lazy and not wanting to wash bottles before bed.  But as a previous commenter said- it takes forever if you are lazy to catch up. I washed bottles and pump parts for the better part of an hour this morning.

Depends how hygienic and clean you are. If you like to build up your dishes you need more. If you do dishes regularly than you need only 2-4. Ive got 3 and i hardly use them all before ive washed them again. Some woman will use 20 then wash them lol

I use the same 6 bottles and just keep sanitizing and cleaning them. I have a ton more in storage, but never use them. It was too late to return them, so I’m saving some for baby number two some day and some I’m regifting.

We leave a couple bottles at both sets of parents house and use about 6 at home and that still seems like sooo many bottles. I think 15 would be overwhelming.

I have 9-4oz and 9-10oz bottles with drop ins so I don’t have to worry about washing the bottle itself every time. I got them from my sister and only had to replace the nipples. I can get a days worth ready and no worry about having to get more ready at feedings. 
I think every mom finds a different system. I’m trying the one my sister did (as above). 
My sister in law used one bottle total and switched out the nipples when the time came.

It depends on how often you wash them. If you leave them in the sink for a week, you’ll need more. I’m a nanny and I’ve found that it usually works better for moms to have 4-5. Right now we have two 4oz and two 6oz bottles. Bottle washing only takes a minute, so I usually just wash them during nap time.
