Is it possible to be effaced but not dilated??!

Doctor says I’m 70% effaced but she couldn’t feel that I was even 1cm dilated. How is that possible? 🧐🧐🧐

Effacement and dilation are related, but not the same thing. Effacement is the thinning of the cervix, and dilation is how big it's gotten.

Contractions, have four goals effacement, dialating,  position and station. All are equal in their importance and can happen one at a time or together. Totally normal and nothing to worry about. You can be 4cm for weeks or be zero and have a baby in 5 hrs.

Don’t be discouraged. I was 2 Cm dilated and 70 percent effaced. They did stretched and sweep and I had the baby 6 hours later ftm lol!
