Low lying placenta

J

I had a very easy pregnancy then suddenly with no signs I went into labor at 37 weeks. Literally at 6 pm contractions started at 15 minutes apart, got to the hospital at 8 pm and they had to deliver me at 3 Am because we couldn’t get the contractions to stop (we thought I was just dehydrated from being outside that day).

I was a repeat csection and switched doctors at 33 weeks due to a move. I had a sono at MFM once a month but other than that no vaginal exams. During my labor the nurse went to check me and it was the most painful thing ever!!! I still cringe thinking about it. The nurse said my placenta was in the way so she was having to go around to check my cervix.

I plan on asking my doctor but the on call doctor delivered me. But I’m reading this is really serious! Is it possible they missed a low lying placenta my entire pregnancy? If so what I’m reading online of what could have happened is really scary. I also read it could cause spontaneous labor which my labor felt like it came out of nowhere. I know they say your second is faster but I had to be induced with my first ended in a csection. And the fact I had no other signs and felt great makes me feel like something caused my labor. My husband was out of town I had to do this csection alone and my son was in the NICU for premature lungs. I’m a little traumatized so I just am looking for answers that might impact if we decide to have any more children.
