Feeling guilty.... advice welcomed
My daughter just turned 4-Months old and due to low supply and her food allergies/intolerance I’ve been asked to start supplementing with formula.
She plateaued at her current weight for weeks and her doctors are getting concerned about the quality and quantity of my milk. This in itself was heart breaking because I’ve been on a strict allergen free diet the past 8-weeks and it hasn’t helped her.
I’m starting off mixing formula with breastmilk I’ve had stashed and slowly increasing the formula intake.
What kills me right now is that when I bottle-feed her she refuses and begins rooting into my shirt... she cries as almost asking me ‘why mom, why aren’t you feeding me from yourself’ ... it gets to the point where she gives up after screaming and takes the bottle again.
I sit here crying while feeding her because it wasn’t my choice or plan but it’s the best for her health.
How do I continue without feeling devastated since she doesn’t understand yet why mommy can’t breastfeed her (for comfort) until after she’s done with the bottle?
