Did you have to do lead testing for your child

We just took my 15mo to have blood work done for lead testing. It's a routine lab here in Arizona. My husband swears his son in New York never had this test so I'm just trying to see how common it is. TIA ladies!

I'm going to guess it depends on where you live and probably associated with environmental factors like common homes built in a specific time period, states that maybe were looser with regulations ect. We didn't have any screening here in Oregon but we do have to supplement our babies with fluoride drops and fluoride tooth paste when just across the river in Washington they don't 🤷🏻‍♀️.

Our baby was born in Flagstaff, Arizona and we were never told by pediatrician or anyone that we needed to have that tested. Moved to Alaska and at the WIC office here they said we should have it done. The only place I’ve ever even heard of it so I am not really familiar with it.

I also live in AZ and take my little one to Phoenix Children’s Hospital for his check ups. They did the lead testing on his 12 month appointment but from what I remember they asked me if I wanted to do it so it was optional. I decided to do it just in case and everything came back normal.

Yes, it’s a routine test at 12 months at my daughters pediatrician.

We did it a few months ago mostly because we bought a house built in 1914, but results came back all clear.
