I don’t know about any other mommies Im this group BUT,

My biggest worry for my baby is how the world will perceive him.

I was raised by a Puerto Rican mother and a black father. My husband is black. My son to be is going to be black.

I’m just so worried about the struggles he’s going to have to face being a black man in America in this climate and being my first baby how to navigate the conversation when it does come up or when he does notice “hey I’m different”. It’s one of the first things I thought about when I married my husband is.

“What if I lose my husband to police brutality even though I know his heart is so kind and he hates conflict.”

Or

“what if my son is discriminated against? How will I myself deal with the anger that comes with that.”

How have you mommies dealt with or plan on teaching your kids about their culture and how to navigate discrimination?
