Struggling with solids?

Question

Anybody else seem to be struggling with solids? My little guy doesnt seem to like any flavor of purees? I've also tried real avocado and banana and he doesn't seem to take to those either. He just spits everything out.

Spitting out doesn’t necessarily mean doesn’t like. It’s pretty normal at first as they figure out how to move food around their mouth to the throat and swallow. Just keep re-presenting things. Even a gag or what we would think of as an “ew” face don’t mean the same thing in babies.

Mine doesnt really like eating but when I feed her with funny sounds and let her hold her own spoon multiple times she tolerates the purees. I have yet to tried solids yet cause even purees gagged her..

Sounds like he might still have the tongue thrust reflex, which is normal.

I'm in the same boat. I was given the green light to start solids at 4 months and she still hasn't begun to like it even after trying for the past two months. Dr wasnt concerned at her six month check up since solids are supplemental anyways and are just really for learning. I'm just gonna keep up the formula feeding and know that eventually one day she will start liking solids.

Probably not quite ready yet. Also sometimes some babies need multiple opportunities of exposure to actually get the hang of it or like it. My 6 month old isn’t big on eating yet but my first child was at 5 months. Just keep trying everyday but don’t force it. Your baby will catch on.
