An hour???

Baby literally ate for an hour on only one breast... is this normal??

My pediatrician said anything over 40 is him using me as a pacifier. He was almost nonstop one night at the hospital. Had to request a paci so I could sleep and give my nipples a rest.

That would be comfort nursing.  Unless there’s a bad milk transfer due to a latch issue, then baby is just satisfying their suck instinct.  If my LO is on more than 20 minutes, I take him off and give him the pacifier for at least 20 minutes.  If he’s still hungry after that, then i assume he needs to eat more and is in a cluster feed so put him back on for a bit.

My boy used to nurse for 50 minutes on one breast. Turned out he wasn’t latching and suckling properly.
