When to start the pill?

So I have just been given Rigevidon 21 day pills and my doctor said to start on the first day of my next period. But the NHS website says you can start at any time if you use condoms for 7 days. When should I start?

You CAN do it anytime if you use condoms but it works better at the start of your cycle
