Are we doing the right thing by trying to save everything on the planet? (Read further for context)

🙂🙃

I never really thought about it this way before, but recently in a documentary someone raised the question of “are we really doing the right thing by trying to save everything on the planet?” If you think about the history of the world and evolution it seems that to a certain extent species going extinct is a natural part of our world... dinosaurs, the wooly mammoth, and a bunch of other animals have gone extinct in the past and it seems sometimes for good reason. I’m definitely not sad that I’ve lost my chances of running into a T-Rex next time I leave my house lol....

but I also know species are going extinct at a far more rapid rate nowadays, and I am an animal lover and obviously want these animals to continue living. But how do we know which animals we should be trying to save from going extinct and which ones are really going extinct as a product of human interference? Are some of the animals we are trying to save supposed to be going extinct? How much human intervention should there be? What are others opinions? Should we really be trying to save everything on this planet or should we be leaving things alone?
