IUD fell out???

Has anyone else gone through this?
My copper IUD just fell out of my body. 😭😭😭 
I’ve had it for a year and a half. It came out when I took out my menstrual cup. I’m experiencing pretty bad cramps right now. 
I called my nurse but they’re busy so I’m waiting for a reply. I currently live abroad and it’s not easy for me to get to a doctor. Do I need to go?
But for the future... Can I get another one? Will that one come out too? Will I have to repeat the process of bleeding heavily for 10 months? 😭

If you’re going to use cups with an iud, you need to properly break the seal before removing it. When you don’t, the suction pulls on your iud strings and out it comes (hence what happened to you). That’s why some doctors and cup manufacturers advise against using cups with an iud. You have to be more careful next time or stick to tampons/pads.

You can get another one. Its most likely to happen during your periods or if youre breast feeding. If you have heavy periods it can be more likely which makes sense since the blood flow is going out that way. Not sure but you may experience the same side effects getting a new one. I think the iuds are worth it!

There’s a warning on the cup package on not to use cups. Some people still do and you just have to break the seal properly. Once I got my iud I stopped using the cup for this reason.

Dang, yes I’m on my period right now but I was still super surprised by it. I love my IUD but don’t want to go though another round of constant bleeding. When I first got it inserted I bled for 3 weeks out of the month for almost 10 months. 😭
