SMA- Spinal muscular atrophy carrier! Please help!

Hi Everyone!

I am 20 weeks pregnant with my first baby and just found out I am a carrier for SMA. My husband did his testing this week and we are waiting on the results.

Can anyone provide some calming info to ease my mind? Google has destroyed my emotions and made me think the worst for our baby girl.

Has anyone spoke in more depth with their doctor or specialist? It seems carriers are fairly common but effected children are very rare...I am terrified my husband is also going to be a carrier.

Any insight or advise is much appreciated if you've gone through this. The wait is torture!
