Is laughing gas safe?

Is laughing gas safe for a 2 year old? Dentist wanting to use it. Please tell me everything you know about it if not. I did mention him get put to sleep not to sleep with the gas and he said he doesn’t think there is any other option cause he’s so young. Please help.

Laughing gas is nitrous oxide gas and works by the patient breathing in the gas and has a very relaxing effect on the patient. The drug is flushed out of the system completely at the end of the appointment by breathing pure oxygen as you would be given at a medical dr office. It is so reversible that an adult may drive themselves to and from their appointment if using nitrous. 
The staff will be monitoring very closely your child’s vitals for any off chance of a poor reaction to the medicine. There are limits of how high of a concentration of nitrous the child will be allowed to breathe, and the dr will monitor the entire process. 
Whatever the child is having done at the dentist will be far more devastating if left untreated versus any side effects the nitrous will have. The gas will make sure your child has a good and comfortable experience so that they do not grow up with a severe fear and aversion to the dentist— so so so important to set them up for a lifetime of good oral hygiene habits and a want to visit the dentist rather than a fear.

It’s not safe if your child has the MRHFR gene. Also, most cavities can be healed with a mineralizing toothpaste such as “coral kids” or “Uncle Harry’s”. I’d get a second opinion, find a holistic dentist in your area.

I’m pretty sure it’s safe, yes. I think I had it as a child. Not that I know much about it, but I think it’s safe.
