Transition to 1 nap?

How did you know your little was ready to start taking 1 nap a day? My son turns 1 in 2 weeks and the last week or so it has been so much harder to put him down for naps. He’s wanting to be awake longer before his naps but that makes his 2nd nap of the day super late. He’s not acting super tired and he won’t lay down to drink his bottle which is how we put him to sleep.

I transitioned my twins at 12 months. They were doing the exact same thing but were also going through a sleep regression so it was hard to know if they were dropping a nap or if it was just part of the regression. So we went down to one nap. It took a few days of figuring out the best time. Then once I did find the best time for the one nap. I tried going back to their regular 2 nap routine and it just didn’t work. So we went back to the one nap and it just works. But they were fighting their second nap. They would have no problem with their first nap but also couldn’t last from the end of their first nap until bed time. Now their schedule is up at 7-7:30, first nap at 12:30-3:30. Bed at 7:30. The biggest sign was them having energy longer.

My son went to 1 nap around 13 months old. He would fight the 2nd nap and not always sleep. I started pushing his first nap a little later each day and put him to bed earlier at night.

Mine just did at 14/14.5 m he went from two to one back to two then back to one and back to two then had stayed at one for the last week. I think we are staying at one now. How did I know? He just stated showing tired signs later, he started sleeping longer for his first nap then was over tired by bed and was fighting bedtime. So his nap moved later and he fell asleep easily for both nap and bed again and like I said he switch it up a few times but I feel I can safety say he’s going to be at one from now on at 15m.

My daughter started fighting it around 11 months and by 13 months we’d switched to one nap. We would lay her down and when it had been weeks since she actually slept for a second nap (even keeping her up longer) we finally let it go and adjusted her schedule for one nap.
My son is 11 months next week and is still solidly on his two naps a day.
