How do you buy Christmas gifts?

•If you have multiple children do you set a budget, X amount of dollars for each kid, or does every kid get the same amount of presents to open?
•if you do have a budget set for each kid what’s the Normal range?

I don’t set a budget, I just buy what they want, but I do make sure it’s the same amount of gifts so they’re not upset that someone got more gifts than them.

We are spending $50 on our one child. But we also do a family name exchange which is also $50. I think it all depends on your budget and what your take on Christmas is. I'm not willing to almost go into debt on Christmas presents, just cause I don't think they are what the Christmas season is about. Everyone is different 😊

We only have one kid now, but I would do a budget. My mother in law insists on an equal number of things to open. The number of dumb, useless things Ive gotten over the years to make it up to the same number is ridiculous and so wasteful.

We buy 1 gift from santa and 1 from us. My son is almost 3 and doesnt understand. Also, we buy him things all year long, so hes very much provided for and has all his "wants".

A budget and then within that each kid gets a big gift and smaller ones. Gotta keep it as even as possible when they're old enough to start comparing.

We do a budget even with each kid. They understand and are never upset if other sibling got many little gifts vs them getting fewer more expensive gifts. Mind you they get zero gifts outside of our home and I have 5 kids. We spend 200 a kid. Then an additional amount for yule eve gifts (books, pjs, etc) and we always get family gifts (board games etc).

I only have one kid so far, but I'll handle it how I've always done with my family, which is to roughly match numbers of gifts & magnitude of gifts (for example, one bigger/pricier gift per person plus a couple small ones). We take turns opening gifts so numbers being close is nice.
