Who should walk her down the aisle? (Read before voting)

So here's the scenario:

"A" is planning her wedding and her father has recently passed away so he won't be able to walk her down the aisle which was something very important to her. The family is expecting that she'll ask her grandfather or one of her uncles to fill her father's role instead but she doesn't consider herself especially close to any of them. Who she IS close to, is a close friend of her father's who she considers as a second father to her. "A" would prefer to give that honor to her father's friend, but has a feeling that decision would not be taken well by the rest of the extended family.

Should she ask the family friend regardless, pick someone from the family as expected, or just walk down the aisle alone?
