Maybe he's just not ready for the three words. It was eight months before my husband finally said it. And he only said it after I broke down in front of him because I was in love with him, but was waiting and hoping for him to say it first and it was hurting me and driving me nuts. He was scared, but when he finally said it, he meant it.

No you're not. If you are with someone you should be able to Express yourself without feeling constricted. That's not healthy and you'll end up resenting him. Try talking to him again and if he gets upset again, leave him alone. Don't put up with that.
