Keep them out of public as much as possible during the cold months. Do grocery pick up rather than dragging them through the store, etc.

Unfortunately RSV is an incredibly common and very contagious disease. Nearly all children will contract it at some point in very early childhood (I think they estimate 90% of children have it before age 2). For most it presents as a severe cold and the parents never even know their child had it... they think it’s a bad cold and move on. However in some children (mine included) it is much more dangerous. My daughter had just turned one when she caught it at daycare and usually by that age symptoms aren’t as severe, but she wasn’t so lucky and spent a week in the PICU with it. There really isn’t a way to prevent it, beyond generally following rules of keeping sick people away and general hygiene. That being said you can hope your child is one of the many who, when they get it, doesn’t have a bad reaction.
