Period like cramps before labor starting?

Question

I’m 39 weeks today, about 1cm dilated and 40% effaced. 
I went into labor and delivery two nights ago to check amniotic fluid bc I thought my water bag was leaking. 
I did some walking yesterday and last night I started having period like cramps in my vaginal area. Has anyone experienced this before labor? 
I’m due on November 23rd.

I feel you! I’m 39 weeks tomorrow I went to L&B Monday night because I thought my water broke  but they said it didn’t. I was only 1cm and 80 then went to the doctor on Friday and he said I’m at a 2. Ive been walking and bouncing and even had sex. About to drink raspberry tea. I want this baby out. She feels like shes going to fall out and keeps head butting me so hard it stops me in my tracks
