HCG levels?

Question

I’m seeing a lot of posts about people having their hcg levels checked every couple of days and this being an indicator of a good/bad pregnancy.
Maybe it’s because I’m in the UK or something but we definitely don’t do that? Or is there a special reason why some people are checking their hcg and other people (me for example) don’t even have the option? 
I’m just curious so if someone can clarify I would be really grateful ☺️

I'm in the US and when I was at 4 weeks, my OB had me get mine tested and then tested again two days later, and a third time two days later than that. She said that we can tell if the baby is growing normally by seeing how much the hcg increases.  It's supposed to double every two days.  So mine was 316 the first time, 764 the second, and 1586 the third.  Because it is continuing to double, she said that my pregnancy is progressing normally.  I think it's just a way of detecting early that things are on track.

In the US, if you have fertility issues or a previous history of a loss they will check and then do a 48 hour recheck to make sure it’s rising appropriately. I have had two miscarriages and two healthy babies so this would be baby three. I had my levels checked yesterday and will have my second set done tomorrow.

I have mine checked regularly because I am high risk. But I’m in Canada so it’s free!

The UK only do it if there are any potential issues like bleeding etc. 
It’s used to make sure your HCG levels are rising (doubling over a 48 hour period) to ensure that the pregnancy is viable. 
If there’s no cause for concern then there’s no need for them to do it 😊 x

People may just want to have their levels checked. It's not recommended after the first trimester though. The only way they constantly check early on is if you're levels are normal and start dropping which indicates miscarriage.

I don’t think we do it here in uk, I didn’t with my first I’m sure it’ll be the same with this one. Unless they do test it but don’t say anything unless it’s too low 🤷‍♀️ coz I had a lot of blood taken last time, but just thought that it was coz I’ve got epilepsy

I’m high risk. This is my first pregnancy, but I have other health issues so they wanted to make sure it was doubling and they only want me to go a third time to check my progesterone levels (hcg included) because they were a little low and they have me on progesterone.
