Paper coupons aren’t as good as they used to be because they have short expiration dates.  I know that some stores accept expired coupons though.

I'm in California so couponing is the worst here. I tried and failed miserably. I have signed up for any of the free rewards accounts like ralphs which I believe is Kroger's, target, etc. 
For target I keep a list if things that we need and try to plan on buying around the time they do buy 5 get a gift card or buy 75/100 in the whatever department and get a gift card.
I also signed up for rakuten because there are definitely stores I shop at on there.

I go to Kroger and have a rewards account with them. They send really good coupons and also have good ones online. Then I'll just go through the coupons that come in the mail too. I don't waste too much time with it. But I do save us anywhere from 30 to 50 bucks usually when I go.
