How to get dad involved in night feedings?

FTM here,
If you’re nursing, how does dad participate in night time baby care? Whenever baby wakes are you nursing? Or is it sometimes just a diaper change? Maybe just soothing?

My husband slept lol. I wokeup to nurse. I felt it was silly to have my husband wake up when I’d have to wakeup anyways. Plus he worked more than me at the time.

I never had to soothe the baby because the breastfeeding did that. He’d always just get up and grab the baby for me, but eventually we co slept and I would just feed the baby in bed when he stirred so even that was eliminated.  When nursing you have to feed round the clock throughout night so I definitely don’t recommend using pumped milk during night feedings, unless you planned on pumping while the baby ate so that you stimulate supply. But then, you’re missing on the great bonding from right from boob. BF definitely puts it all on you it’s certainly the ultimate commitment! You’d have to really get creative because by the end of it I had eliminated any way that my hubby could even help, unless to change him, but I was already up.

Really depends on the baby. If it was just a diaper change or bottle feed then I was happy to have my husband help out but if you're getting up to nurse anyway then I actually think it's really selfish to make him wake up  just because you have to. 
My sister just had a baby and she says that Everytime the baby wakes up she makes her husband wake up to keep her company while she nurses. There's nothing for him to really help with. Like that's terrible! Let someone get some sleep!!!

My husband would do overnight nappies and walk up and down the hall holding my boy at night to settle him as I was too sore and tired.
We switched to co sleeping pretty soon and baby just boobed all night. Husband slept in the spare room and I had a stash of nappies and wipes next to my bed. So he slept well after that, but we did okay too.

My husband always got up and changed baby’s diaper while I got settled in to nurse.  Then I nursed and put baby back down for the first few weeks. As we got closer to me going back to work and started incorporating a bottle then he would start trying to take a feeding or so! But if baby is not nursing well and/or you simply want to bottle feed go for it and let husband help! #fedisbest

I find it much better to let him sleep (he can’t help with nursing anyways) then let him do more work during the day(making food, cleaning etc...) while I’m resting

Aside from the first few weeks after birth, our child will have breast milk in bottles since I have to return to work after 6-8 weeks. That will allow him to get up some nights for feedings and diaper changes.

With all my kids while I breast feed at night my husband would pay the babies back or but it talk to them so he felt like he was helping and also got to bond while I was bonding

I found that I didn’t really need him at night time I know he needed his sleep as he works so I sort of just done the night shift on my own. On the weekends he would fetch me something if I needed it.
